The European Union Strategy for Gender Equality 2020-2025

Trying to achieve a Union of equality means fighting for a Union in which all, women and men, girls and boys, in all their diversity, are equal. This is a
common commitment for all stakeholders. The 2020-2025 Gender Equality Strategy sets a vision and sets policy goals and actions to make concrete progress on gender equality in Europe and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

To put an end to this situation, the Union will implement concrete actions aimed in particular at:

  • to free women and girls from gender-based violence and harassment
  • to combat gender stereotypes in society
  • to improve the balance between women and men in management positions, including on boards and politics
  • to encourage a more balanced participation of women and men in all sectors of work to foster greater diversity in the workplace

The Union provides specific funding for a future where gender equality is ensured: in the next EU budget (2021-2027), gender equality-related projects will be supported and funded through a range of EU programs: by grants specific under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values program to the major EU Structural, Social and Cohesion Funds.
